Welcome to SSG!
Sharing best practices to build working models of sustainability across borders and cultures.
We partner with established organizations that share our vision and values to build practical working models that can translate across borders and cultures. These models promote and sustain social justice, the environment, education, agriculture, and health for Indigenous Maya Mam villagers. Those engaged with Sustainable Sharing with Guatemala (SSG) live healthier lives and will be more self sufficient thus building stronger individuals, families and communities.
SSG strives for long-term, sustainable solutions for people and the planet. Since all people and places on the earth are connected, the more strongly we emphasize these connections, the better the chance to sustain the earth.
Indigenous peoples culturally are more apt to view “everything” as an integral part of the web of life thus, they revere nature inclusively: environmentally, spiritually and culturally. They view nature as sacred, as that which sustains them, not as a revenue source.
Our partnership with the indigenous Mayan Mam people respects their world view. These communities live with nature, honoring and being mindful of their interconnection with nature. Together, SSG and other established organizations work collectively to sustain mayan communities and the environment.
